Understanding the folder structure
Your account's physical address (path)

Understanding the folder structure

Each domain name hosted on our system has a "home directory". Within this directory, you store all the HTML files, images, scripts, databases and any other content associated with your website. When logged into the home directory of one of your domains using FTP you will see the following folders:

web: This is the folder that the website for the domain name points to. Inside this folder, you should place your index.htm file as well as any other HTML files, scripts and images that make up your website.

stats: This folder is for real time stats. Here you can see all statistics of your site.

error: This folder is for error 404 etc pages. You can make your own error page by uploading them in this directory

Your account's physical address (path)

Physical address (path) to your account is important for scripts (php, cgi, etc.) that need to know the physical path. This path for  UNIX accounts are given below:

For UNIX accounts: /home/domains/yourdomain.com/user/htdocs/

IMPORTANT: Do NOT include www. in front of your domainname

Examples:
  • For a cgi script in your cgi-bin folder the path would be:
    /home/domains/yourdomain.com/user/htdocs/cgi-bin/ (UNIX)
    e:\domains\yourdomain.com\user\htdocs\cgi-bin\ (NT)

  • For an Access database in your private folder the path would be:
    /home/domains/yourdomain.com/user/private/ (UNIX)
    e:\domains\yourdomain.com\user\private\ (NT)

You can also open subfolders in your "private" folder.

    Other important paths:

  • perl: /usr/bin/perl
  • python 1.5: /usr/bin/python
  • python 2.1: /usr/bin/python2
  • sendmail: /usr/sbin/sendmail
  • bash /bin/bash (UNIX only)
